Our stories deserve to be told: The art of documenting community narratives
Every society has its stories, but who documents them for future generations? In this meeting with Ms. Afaf Abbas, we reflect on how personal experiences and family tales preserve the memory of societies, and we explore the role of oral narrative, writing, literature, travel literature, and cultural salons in transmitting this memory. We also learn how members of societies document their own history and narrate it from their own perspective.
